Introduction to Wheel-Throwing Saturdays with Alma 9:30 am–12 (noon) / 7 sessions Starting November 1
We are offering our Introduction to Wheel-Throwing hosted by local ceramic artist Alma Hayes-Belmont. Alma will teach you how to make functional objects starting with a lump of clay on the potter’s wheel. You will also learn how to trim, bisque, glaze, and fire your pieces. This class is perfect for beginners, but open to all levels.
Alma has pursued her knowledge of ceramics through workshops at Odyssey Clayworks, Arrowmont School of Arts, and Peter’s Valley. She has participated in juried shows as well as museum exhibitions. Alma believes teaching, especially beginners, has made her a better potter. A self-proclaimed geek, she loves sharing the physics of pottery with her students.
In addition to class time, students have access to the studio to come in and practice for the duration of the course. Clay and glazes are included. Firing fees are charged separately: $0.05 per cubic. Sales tax not included.
While we do not officially offer make-up classes, you are welcome to join one of the other classes if there is room.
Cancellation with a full refund is allowed up until a week before the class starts and a 50% refund if canceled the week of the start of class.
There are no refunds once the class session has started.
This class is open to all aged 13 years old and up.
Saturdays from 9:30 am-12 pm, starting on November 1 – December 20, 2025
7-Session Class
