Rock Clay welcomes you to an Introduction to Wheel-Throwing class on Wednesday evenings with Megan San Andres.
In this class, Megan will guide you through transforming a simple ball of clay into functional or sculptural pieces, both on the pottery wheel and by hand. You’ll learn foundational wheel-throwing techniques, as well as handbuilding methods like pinch pots, coiling, and slab-building, which allow for endless creativity and experimentation.
Glazing/surface design will also be covered during this session.
This class is great for beginners, experienced potters, and all those in between!
Megan is an accomplished ceramics student at Pratt Institute in New York and is studying to become an art educator. They have been working with clay for over five years and possess extensive experience in both handbuilding and throwing on the wheel.
In addition to class time, students may come in and practice at any time during the course. Clay and glazes are included. Firing fees are charged separately: $0.05 per cubic inch. (Sales tax not included.)
While we do not officially offer make-up classes, you are welcome to join one of our other classes if there is room available.
Cancellation with a full refund is allowed up until a week before the class starts, and a 50% refund if canceled the week of the start of class.
There are no refunds once the class session has started.
This class is open to all aged 13 years old and up.
Wednesdays from 6:00 pm-8:30 pm, starting on June 24 – August 12, 2026
