Join ceramic artist Eileen Sackman for a hands-on workshop exploring figurative carving on leather-hard clay plates.

Drawing from her deep love of animals and lifelong commitment to advocacy for all species, Eileen creates work inspired by the natural world. In this workshop, she will share her process for carving expressive figurative imagery—or abstract designs—into the surface of leather-hard clay.

Eileen Sackman is a ceramic artist based in Catskill, New York. She received her MFA in Ceramics from the State University of New York at New Paltz in 2010. In addition to her studio practice, Eileen is a dedicated educator who has taught workshops, community art center classes, and university-level ceramics.

Tools will be provided at the workshop and leather hard plates will be available at the workshop. You are also welcome to bring your own leather-hard clay plate to carve in the workshop.

This workshop is open to all skill levels, from beginners to experienced ceramic artists.

Time: 10:00 AM–4:00 PM (includes a short lunch break)

Please bring your own lunch.

Firing is not included in the workshop.
